In *theory* I just have IBS, but in practice I don’t tend to get any significant “traditional” IBS symptoms due to the way I manage my diet. (Which is quite harrowingly restrictive these days, although on the upside I’ve lost lots of weight.)
For me, the main issue has always been fatigue and frequently feeling like I’ve been hit by a bus in terms of aches and pains. At the moment (this is after only working on my own projects for about a year and a half) I can just about manage contracting five-six hours a day, four days a week. I can sometimes put more hours in (I once did nearly 35 in a week – hark at me), but it’s not sustainable and I very much reap what I sow.
I’ve looked at CFS/ME in the past and there’s a fairly high degree of overlap (I often get a sore throat and painful, though not swollen lymph nodes in my armpits, regularly have brain fog and don’t tend to sleep well) so I do wonder if I have mild CFS/ME, but my doctor is generally a bit useless so I’m not sure if there’s any value in actually attempting to have this as a diagnosis.
Still, it’s a great laugh. 😐
However, thankfully things aren’t generally that bad and managing my (albeit quiet staggeringly restrictive) diet has meant that I’m able to manage 20-25 hours of work a week.
Anxiety and depression? Yes please!
Also, as a special bonus I can tell you what I’ve eaten on any given day since the 15th of February 2015, so it’s not all bad.
